This caught my eye. Very well done. How interesting that it is a girl from Nicaragua. My husband had an incredible time there on a short term missions trip.

Artist's Description

A typical scene of a Nicaraguan country road where coffee is harvested. The little girl is wearing the typical frilly pink party dress that is used to celebrate a young woman's fifteenth birthday, and then used until worn out. She is holding a plastic bag of orange drink, bags are often used for take out instead of cups or bottles. Alex Burrows took a photo of this familiar scene, and I painted it, delighting in the contrasts, lights and darks, reflections in the mud puddle, the emotion of the shy, yet curious little girl. I wrote the following poem:........................................THE SMALL GOOD

when the winds are blowing
full in your sails.
In the midst of great evil
do the small good
that you know how to do.

June 2002

‘Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. ..Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it…Depart from evil, and do good…’ Psalm 37:3, 5...
