Ometepe Island is a place of peace, prophecied by ancient Mayans, and so it has been historically. They found there sweet water and an island with two volcanoes, one of fire and one of water. The red in the painting depicts the flourishing 'malinche' trees, also known as Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant trees whose orange-red blooms brighten the placid blues, greens and the lavender beach. This is one of our favorite places to go in Nicaragua. I wrote this poem.................................................................................................THE PUMP IS PRIMED
