Artist's Description

In a Kiko Arguello design, Mary and the young Jesus, with green eyes, depict a Christmas theme, which is touched with tears. This modern icon reflects the poem by Pablo Antonio Cuadra who speaks of Mary's eyes being blue in the Annunciation, Green in Nativity, and Black in the Passion. As in traditional icons, the ears are exaggerated to indicate listening to the viewer, and the hands stretched out in blessing.
