Artist's Description
When Zoreida, the Nicaraguan cook for SuNicas groups who come to the Sacred Forest in Matagalpa, was leaving, she turned and saw above the hydrangeas (mil flores in Spanish) and the tree beyond them a vision of a great lion roaring, protective of this special place. She asked me to paint her description, and though I did not know how to do that, this painting is the result. Aslan is the name of the great lion in the C. S. Lewis children's books, Chronicles of Narnia, a great favorite of mine.
