Jewel from the bottom of the sea. Meditation and a selection from Thomas Merton's writing: We must gather ourselves from our distracted, exhausted, noise-polluted, and frenzied existence, so that when we say ‘I’ there is actually a unified human person present…the deep transcendent self is a divine creature, shy and wild, secret and spontaneous, preferring silence and humility of a pure heart in which to make its mysterious appearance. This true ‘self’ must be drawn up like a jewel from the bottom of the sea, ‘by a steady work of descent to recover the immortal diamond in whose every facet is reflected the invisible face of God.

Tenemos que recogernos desde nuestro existencia distraída, exhausto, contaminado con ruido, y frenético, para que cuando decimos ‘Yo’ hay actualmente presente una persona humana, unificada presente…el ser profundo, trascendente es una criatura divina, tímido y silvestre, sigiloso y espontaneo, prefiriendo el silencio y la humildad de un corazón puro en lo cual hacer su aparición misterioso.
