Artist's Description
My experiment with icon writing and using the classic design of Cristo Pantocrator. Jesus is portrayed as dark skinned, with penetrating eyes that follow and question the viewer. The many layers of egg tempera paint using dry earth pigments in a process which is dedicated to prayer, express the light from within, Jesus as Lord of all, King of kings. I put a scene of Matagalpa, Nicaragua, its' cathedral and small groupings of houses, behind the image, to show Him present in the everyday life of our small town.
